Vautrait Fall 2026: A Fusion of Past and Present
Yonathan Carmel's fall 2026 collection seamlessly blends his previous summer lineup with a fresh, innovative approach. This collection was born during Carmel's residence in an Italian village, where he delved into archival pieces from various eras, sparking a unique creative process.
Carmel's design philosophy revolves around an intuitive, wide-ranging research approach. "It's about discovering different pieces and objects that somehow captivate me," he explains. However, this season, he delved deeper into men's tailoring, seamlessly merging classic 1950s jacket silhouettes with the bold, 1980s leather bomber style.
"Despite the apparent lack of connection between these pieces," Carmel noted, "I find a unique synergy." This theme of disparate elements intertwines with the collection's inspiration, drawn from the sense of pride and identity found in nearby villages.
"This concept isn't universal or digital," Carmel emphasized. "It's not a contemporary global phenomenon. It's akin to nationalism without a defined nation."
Reflecting this theme, Carmel's designs feature heavy tailoring and intricate outerwear. A striking gray, wide-shouldered checked blazer and trousers, secured at the ankles with ties, are paired with a crisp white Oxford shirt and a vibrant emerald green sweater.
A unique, calf-length brown-and-black checked woolen jacket creates an asymmetric, swirling effect around the body. One standout piece is an oversized woolen vest adorned with an embroidered landscape, complete with houses, flowers, hills, and trees. Another sweater, in beige, features intricate cable patterns and a turtleneck, exuding a well-worn, cherished feel. It is paired with a long, dark brown skirt, lighter brown gloves, and a checkered woolen cap.
"Mixing these diverse details was fascinating," Carmel shared. "It's all about the details." These intricate elements seamlessly bridge the gap between the past and the present, making the collection both timeless and contemporary.
